The Red Ape Debate - the Future for the Orangutan |

The Orangutan Foundation will be taking part in The Red Ape Debate - the Future for the Orangutan this Friday 27th November. The event commences with an afternoon of workshops discussing orangutan conservation with topics including; Rehabilitation as an effective conservation strategy and Constraints on reintroduction, We will be taking part in Problems of Conservation in Non-protected Habitats a subject extremely relevant to our work in the Belantikan Hulu region of Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. There will be a public debate in the evening at the Royal Geographic Society in London at 7pm. Representatives from each workshop will present the outcome of their discussions and the debate will be opened up to a panel of experts. You will be able to have your say and will be asked to cast your vote and decide: How should resources for orang-utan conservation be prioritised? This event is a continuation from the Great Ape Debate held at the Linnean Society jointly with World Land Trust on 30th April 2009. At the Great Ape Debate participants made initial explorations into the issues of orangutan conservation.
