Orangutan Foundation

Awareness Week 2008 was another huge success with businesses, schools and supporters getting into the swing of things. This year we wanted to highlight the important role the orangutan’s habitat has in reducing global greenhouse gas emissions. Our programmes protect orangutan habitat by preventing the destruction and burning of the tropical forests. Standing forests represent one of the largest sources of stored carbon and deforestation is the second largest source of carbon emissions. Thus, preventing deforestation reduces carbon emissions and helps to reduce global warming.

Le Pain Quotidien generated awareness with an 'orangutan' in their flagship store on Marylebone High Street and collection tins and flyers in all 10 of their London stores. Square Pie, quality pie maker, also jumped on board by having collection tins and posters up in some London outlets.
