Global Canopy Programme - The Little REDD Book. Print
Monday, 05 January 2009 20:20

The Global Canopy Programme team recently attended the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Poznan, Poland and we hope you find some of the links in the email below interesting and useful reading, particularly The Little REDD Book.

"The GCP team has just returned from the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Poznan, Poland where the conservation of tropical forests was a popular topic, but not a priority in its negotiations. A search for consensus on how and when to include mechanisms such as REDD in key international agreements like the Kyoto Protocol and the European Union Trading System will be a crucial mission in 2009 for all those who believe that tropical forests must become a political priority in order for them not to disappear. In addition we need to work hard for necessary funds to be put in place as soon as possible for forest owning nations to gain capacity to participate in these mechanisms when they do come on stream. Please click here to view a short summary of the key outcomes of the recent Poznan negotiations. More can be found on the GCP and Forests Now websites: www.globalcanopy.org and www.ForestsNow.org, respectively.
