ORANGUTAN CONSERVATION VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME 2020
VOLUNTEERING IN INDONESIA
Our Volunteer Programme promises some exciting opportunities for adventurous individuals! Not only do volunteers participate in fieldwork that really makes a difference to our conservation work, they also get a chance to see orangutans in their natural habitat.
Location: Central Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo.
Duration: 3 weeks
Date: For 2019, dates were 22nd July – 12th August (arrival and departure dates in/out of Pangkalan Bun, Indonesian Borneo). 2020 dates are currently under consideration but likely to be similar.
Due to popular demand, the deadline to express an interest in joining our 2020 Volunteer Programme has now passed. Anyone who has already contacted us will receive further information in due course.
Project: This project will be a unique opportunity to take part in orangutan conservation while living and working in orangutan habitat. Previous projects have included construction of orangutan release sites and guard posts in protected areas, renovating a tropical forest research station and an information centre. All projects directly benefit orangutan conservation. All volunteers will visit Tanjung Puting National Park where there will be a chance to see both rehabilitated and wild orangutans.
Cost: To be confirmed. Includes all meals, accommodation and local transport from arrival to departure. Excludes international and internal flights.
Places are strictly limited and are given on a first come first served basis, after an interview.
Note: There is no hands-on or direct contact with orangutans, this is for the benefit of the apes.
We currently do not have availability for volunteering opportunities in the UK.
