The Orangutan Foundation relies on public support to continue our vital conservation work. By supporting us you are making a direct contribution to the conservation of the orangutan.

Donation Options

To make a donation please choose one of the following three options:

1) Make an online donation now with Visa, MasterCard, Switch or Maestro.

2) Donate on a regular basis by requesting a Standing Order form.

3) Donate to one of our appeals .

4) Donate by text. Simply text APES05 £X to 70070 (where X is the amount you would like to donate, e.g. text APES05 £20 to 70070 to donate £20).

5) Donate by phone, by calling (+44) (0)20 7724 2912.

6) Send a cheque payable to "Orangutan Foundation" to the following address:

Gift Aid - Important!

If you are a UK taxpayer, the value of your gift can be increased by 25% under the Gift Aid scheme. On your behalf, we simply claim back the tax from the Inland Revenue - all you have to do is select Yes to "Does Gift Aid Apply?" on the online donation page or tick the same box on the Standing Order form.

Q. How do I know if I'm a UK tax payer?

You are a UK tax payer if:

Tax is taken from your wages or salary before you receive your pay.

You have to fill in a self-assessment form each year.

You have any taxable savings (in a Building Society, for instance), or a pension plan or investment income.

You have recently paid any capital gains tax, or expect to pay it in the near future. This could be on the sale of a property or some shares, for example.

Q. What if I'm a pensioner?

You may still pay tax on a private pension plan or a savings account, or pay capital gains tax if you sell property or shares. If so, please complete and return your form to explain that you are a tax payer.

Q. If I complete and return the declaration, does that commit me to giving money?

Absolutely not. It just means that if you do give any amount to the Orangutan Foundation we can claim an extra 25 pence for every £1 you donate back from the Inland Revenue.

Q. Who will have access to this information about me?

Only the Orangutan Foundation and the Inland Revenue. We will not share it with anyone else. Please see our Privacy Policy.

Q. Is it really that easy? What's the catch?

There's no catch. You just complete the declaration on-line. Then if you choose to give to the Orangutan Foundation in the future, we will be able to claim more money from the Government without costing you a penny extra.

Please Note: Inheritance tax does not count as UK income tax. Please notify us if your tax status changes.

Give As You Earn

Give As You Earn is the most tax-effective way for individuals to support the Orangutan Foundation.

Under this scheme you specify a regular donation each month which is then deducted from your salary before tax. Give As You Earn is available to everyone who pays UK income tax.

To join Give As You Earn ask your employer if they offer the scheme. By committing to regular giving you enable the Orangutan Foundation to make long term plans secure in the knowledge of your continuing support.

If your organisation is already contracted in to the scheme Give As You Earn Donor Instruction forms should be available from your payroll office for employees to fill in. You simply need to choose the Orangutan Foundation as the charity that you wish to receive your donations.

You can also set up a "Matched Giving Scheme" enabling your company to boost employee donations even further. Your employer must be registered with Give As You Earn to make donations on your behalf.
